John Germaine Obituary
John was a faithful and beloved Son, Father and Grandfather. He was a tremendously loved Husband for 57 years. He is survived by those he loved, Mary Elizabeth “Liz” his wife; Stephanie Hare, his dear daughter, her spouse Tony and their children Caden, Leo and Eve, the princess. His dear son Mark and spouse Brooke and their sons Logan and Cole complete John’s family.
John was born July 24, 1937. He spent much of his life in pharmacy. He began at the age of 16 working at Whiston’s pharmacy in Mt. Gilead. He graduated from Mt. Gilead High School the class of 1956. He entered OSU college of Pharmacy in the fall of 1956 and graduated from there in 1962. He worked in retail pharmacy at several locations in or near Columbus until retirement in 2004. Then he worked in a pharmacy poole where he was needed for several years.
John most especially enjoyed OSU football and basketball. He worked as a Redcoat for the football games for 13 years enjoying every minute.
He enjoyed the the theatre and symphonies and volunteered for Capa for 10 years.
He danced with Dudes & Dolls Square Dance group for about 10 years also.
He enjoyed traveling and did so with family and friends.
He was a 32nd degree Mason and belonged to the Scottish Rite Valley of Columbus.
John always looked forward to poker night with his pharmacy friends each month. They played for over 50 years. He enjoyed poker night with Avery Place friends when he could go.
John attended St Andrew Catholic Church for many years and became a member in April of 2009.
He is preceded in death by his parents George and Pearl Germaine and his sister Janet Craven.
In lieu of flowers, the family is asking for donations to the Kobacker House where John spent his final days.
A Funeral Mass will be held 10:30 a.m. Friday May 12th at St. Andrew Church Reed & McCoy Roads where friends may call 9:30 - 10:30 a.m. Private interment later at Resurrection Cemetery.
