Jim Gogolski, age 70, of Columbus, Ohio, passed into eternity December 22, 2025.
Jim was born in Cleveland in 1955 to Adam Peter Gogolski and Margaret “Marge” Mary Sekula Amstutz Gogolski. Jim graduated from The Ohio State University in June 1976 with a degree in Forestry Business. He received an MBA from Xavier in 1982. He worked in the wood industry throughout his career, using his extensive knowledge and friendly manner to bless a variety of clients.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents, his half-brother Thomas “Tom” C. Amstutz, and his half-sister Sandra “Sandi” S. Amstutz. He is survived by his wife, Jeanne Sherer Gogolski, sons Adam (Julie) Gogolski and James Benjamin (Amanda) Gogolski, and grandchildren Anna Jean and John James Gogolski, as well as his sisters Linda G. Smith of North Augusta, SC and Wendy E. Gogolski of Evans, GA.
Jim will be remembered for his love of and enthusiasm for life. He delighted in learning about and exploring new places, and eagerly shared his knowledge with others. Jim always took the “ scenic route” stopping to enjoy a historic maker, a local restaurant and every baseball park along the way. He was a generous man, opening his home for Bible Studies, youth groups and feeding many teenage boys over the years. He was a steadfast and loyal husband, father, neighbor and friend. Jim was a man of integrity, someone who could always be counted on to keep his word and his commitments. The world lost a lot when Jim passed away after a brief but intense battle with cancer.
Jim and his wife Jeanne were members of Grace Orthodox Presbyterian Church in Columbus. Memorial gifts may be made to the church’s deacons’ fund. (Grace OPC, 5099 Postlewaite Rd, Columbus OH 43235.)
A Funeral Service will be held 11 am Monday, December 29 at Grace Orthodox Presbyterian church, 5099 Postlewaite Rd, Columbus, OH 43235 where friends may call 10-11 am. Entombment to follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens with a family service of committal.
