Jeanne Lombardi Obituary

Jeanne Kuechler Lombardi, 90 of Columbus, OH, surrounded by her loving family,was called to heaven on Jan. 24.  Born and raised in Columbus, OH, preceded in death by her parents: J. Harry and Margaret Kuechler, her brother Richard Kuechler; her husband Philip J. Lombardi; sister-in-law Karen Kuechler; son, Robert Joseph Lombardi (Melissa), grandchildren: Robert Joseph Lombardi, and Armida Lombardi. Survived by: her brother, Jack Kuechler, Safety Harbor, FL; children: Sharyn Portaro Pachnek, FL; Martina Rosen (Phillip) Columbus, OH; Maria Mazon (Ric) Columbus; Marianna Hein (John) Columbus, OH; Gina Griffith, Columbus, OH; Mario Lombardi (Katie) Columbus, OH; John Lombardi (Jackie) Cincinnati. Grandchildren: Maressa Valliant, Katarina Pachnek, Kenleigh Pachnek, Rianna Pachnek, Christopher (Erin) Mazon; Lauren (Josh) Ohl, Cara (Casey) Sewell, Sean Lombardi, Jessica Treese (Ryan), Tony Hein, Jacob (Jesse) Rosen, Dominic Lombardi, Brandon Lombardi, Anthony Lombardi, Alyssa Mazon, Riley (Alex) Coddington, Erin (Ethan) Wehrly, Margaret (Molly) Rosen, Audrey Lombardi, Nina Lombardi, and Rose Lombardi. Great-grandchildren: Braden Valliant, Brenna Valliant, Briley Valliant, Malique Cassells, Kiara Cassells, Kaliyah Jourdain, Brandon Jourdain, Vinny Ohl, Theo Ohl, Henry Ohl, Brantley Treese, Kane Treese, Sophia Rosen, Samuel Rosen, Miles Mazon, Nolan Mazon, and Michael Coddington.

Jeanne grew up in Clintonville with her parents, older brother Dick and Fraternal twin brother Jack.  She graduated from North High School. She was an avid Ohio State football fan and attended the 1950 snow bowl game with her dad.  As a young woman she worked as a model for several of the department stores in downtown Columbus.  She was working at the Ohio State faculty club when she met a young Army Captain who was also an ROTC instructor at the university.  They fell in love, and she married her husband, Philip, on June 2, 1960.They were stationed in Germany. As the wife of a military officer, she was dedicated to country, serving as President of the Army Officer Wives Club.

The final military station in the late sixties was Columbus, OH and they settled on the northwest side of Columbus. Jeanne and Phil raised eight children together.  Jeanne was an amazing cook and baker.  She was an avid reader. She was devoted to her family and continued as a caregiver after her children were grown, looking after several of her grandchildren. Jeanne had a strong Catholic faith and was parishioner at St Timothy and St Andrew Churches.  She was a selfless volunteer for many school activities, church functions, and charities such as the Kidney Foundation and the American Cancer Society.

Calling hours: Monday, February 3, 4:00 PM-7:00 PM Egan-Ryan Northwest Chapel 4661 Kenny Rd. Funeral Mass 10:30 AM Tuesday, February 4, St. Andrew Catholic Church 1899 McCoy Rd. Upper Arlington, OH. Interment to follow at Resurrection Cemetery. 

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations would be most appreciated, to St Jude; Live Action and the Dementia Society of America.
