Janice (Flynn) Dorrian, age 85, died March 20, 2023 at Columbus, Ohio. Born October 18, 1937 in Yonkers, NY to Thomas and Lillian (Engel) Flynn. Graduated from St. Denis Grade School and Sacred Heart High School in Yonkers and The Wood Business School in New York City. Was employed by the Legal Dept. of The New York Central Railroad in Manhattan and University Development at The Ohio State University in Columbus. Member of St. Timothy Catholic Church. Survived by husband Hugh James Dorrian and children Julie (David Robinson) Dorrian; Margaret Lombardo; Mary (Dennis) Jeffrey; and Hugh Joseph (very special daughter-in-law PoYee) Dorrian. Grandchildren Joe (Julie Hancock), Eileen and Thomas Jeffrey; Patrick, Grace, Bridget and Maggie Lombardo; Hugh Robinson; Catherine and Joseph Dorrian. Brother John (Pat) Flynn of Cortlandt Manor, NY. Sister-in-law Mary Pulsinelli. Many nieces, nephews and friends from Columbus and New York. Preceded in death by her loving parents, Thomas and Lillian; brothers Thomas, Jr. Flynn; Bert (Bud) Flynn; and Richard Flynn; son-in-law Vaughn Lombardo, sisters-in-law Janet Flynn; Arlene Flynn; Audrey Flynn; Mary Flynn; Judy Hughes; Sister Mary Macrina Dorrian, RSM; Nora Dorrian, Marge Fadley and Mary Martha Dorrian; brothers-in-law Michael Dorrian; John Dorrian; Frank Pulsinelli and Ray Fadley . Member of the Church Ladies, the SeaDuck Girls, the Trenton Six, the 466 Lex Pals, Reilley’s Porch Rockers, the Irish Rovers, St.Tim’s Bowling Ladies and DS Special Godparents. Blessed with many wonderful friends (living and deceased) from St. Timothy sharing work together with school activities, working cafeteria, church bingo, girl scouts and bowling. Shared a very special relationship with Birchmont neighbors and their children. Many Columbus special friends and many joyful memories of NY special pals. Blessed with thoughtful and loving Flynn and Dorrian nieces and nephews. Most especially, loved to jump in the car with her children and head to New York and Cape Cod for visits with family and friends and travel adventures…often with a boat in tow. Her most special moments were being with her children and grandchildren. Enjoyed fishing and exploring with grandkids, Cape Cod biking and sailing, travel, Ohio camping, quiet reading, quiet thankful reflections, backyard bird watching and love of nature, always thanking God for His beautiful creation.
Visitation will be Thursday, March 23, 2023 from 4 to 7 pm at EGAN-RYAN FUNERAL HOME NORTHWEST CHAPEL, 4661 Kenny Road , Columbus. Prayer Service 3:45 pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be Friday March 24, 2023 at 11:00 am at St. Timothy Church, 1088 Thomas Lane. Celebrants will be Msgr. John Cody and St. Timothy’s Pastor Father David Poliafico. Burial at Resurrection Cemetery. Friends who wish may contribute to the Central Ohio Spina Bifida Alliance, Ohio Right to Life or the Association for Frontotemporal Degeneration.
