James Franklin Baker, age 68, of Columbus, Ohio passed away at the Kobacker House on August 11, 2023. The son of the late James Richard (Dick) and Carol Jean Baker was born on June 20,1955.
He is survived by his wife Shelly Baker; daughter Jennifer Smith; step-daughter Elise (Jacob) Salzl; grandchildren Tyler and Kylie Smith; brother Dan Baker; sisters Jill (Kevin) McEnery and Marla (Jim) Koehler; and many nieces and nephews.
Known as the hardest working man, Jim was dedicated to the family business, Dick Baker Roofing, from age 14 until the company closed. He then opened JFB Building Services, where he continued his passion for the trade.
Jim enjoyed trips to his cabin in Bellaire, Michigan, the beach in Naples, Florida, and the Kentucky Bourbon trail. He was a car enthusiast and enjoyed boating, new construction, property hunting, antique shopping and attending Ohio Festivals.
He loved and was loved by family and friends. Jim was known for his kindness and for being a good listener. He was independent, dependable and strong. Jim was always ready to provide acts of service for others. People envied his thick head of hair!
Jim was an inspiration to us all. He fought a rare form of aggressive prostate cancer with strength and bravery. He will be sorely missed.
