Howard David Jordan Obituary

Howard David Jordan, 71, of Columbus, Ohio, passed away on September 23, 2024. He was born on October 31, 1952, in Munich, Germany, where his parents were stationed, and later moved to the United States.

Dave was a proud graduate of Greenon High School, Class of 1970. After high school, he pursued his passion for eye care and earned his degree from The Ohio State College of Optometry in 1976. David also served in the Air Force Reserves at Rickenbacker Air Force Base, demonstrating his commitment to his country and community.

David was preceded in death by his parents Nora (McEntee) and Howard Jordan; brother Patrick Jordan; and his devoted wife, Brenda (Moulton) Jordan, with whom he shared many wonderful years. He is survived by his sons Michael (Jenny) and Jason (Annie) Jordan; grandchildren Aubrey, Alex, Gianna and Felix; half sister Sue Ann Dumbauld; and all of the Moultons, along with their spouses and children, who became his family when he met Brenda.

His family was the light of his life, and he cherished every moment shared with his grandchildren. Dave spent countless hours reading in rocking chairs, cheering in auditoriums, and rooting from the stands, no matter the sport or season. He had a love for animals and shared many bites from his own plate with the family dogs over the years. His longtime canine companion Coco will continue to be loved and spoiled in his absence.

Dave dedicated his life to building a successful optometry practice. Outside of work, he was a member of the Dublin-Worthington Rotary for nearly 40 years, where he chaired the scholarship committee for more than 10 years, and also served one term as president. He found joy in coaching sports, particularly baseball, where he had a lasting impact on many young athletes. An avid fan of Ohio State, Dave never missed a chance to cheer on his Buckeyes. He also found peace and happiness in traveling, especially to Seabrook Island, South Carolina, where he made many special memories with family.

His legacy lives on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him. He will be deeply missed by all.
