Helen Tymoski Obituary

Surrounded by family, Joseph Tymoski passed away quietly on November 6, 2024, at the age of 95.  Bereft at the loss of her beloved spouse of 72 years, Helen Tymoski passed away quietly on November 16, 2024, at the age of 92.

Joe as born in Sayre, PA on November 24, 1928 as the 6th son of Fedor & Tekla Tymoski.  Joe enjoyed a childhood roaming the banks and hills of the Susquehanna River with his brothers.  Helen was also born in Sayre, PA on July 28, 1932 as the 3rd child of Harold & Mary Mullaly.  With a love learning Helen excelled at school and early on noticed the handsome boy (Joe) just a few grades ahead of her.  Following high school, Joseph proudly served in the Army during the Korean War and was a recipient of the Purple Heart for injuries sustained during his tour of duty.  Post high school graduation, Helen worked at the Blue Swan Mills.  Upon returning from service, a chance meeting after a football game brought Helen & Joe together for what would become a storybook love.  Together, Joe and Helen moved to West Lafayette, IN for Joe to attend the Purdue University where he graduated degree in engineering.  There, Joe and Helen began their family.  Moving to Springfield, OH, Joe became a life-long employee of Robbins & Meyers where he managed the precision manufacturing of hoists, cranes and pumps.  Helen raised their children and worked as a buyer for Garrigans’ Office supply.

Upon retirement, Joe and Helen spent time volunteering in their community soup kitchen, became Master Gardeners, raised heirloom tomatoes, crafted beautiful handmade, wooden decorations, and enjoyed their grandchildren.  Joe and Helen leave behind their children: Ann (Matt) Ward, Joseph (Sandy) Tymoski, Mary (Jeff) Connell, and John (Lisa) Tymoski.   They will also be sorely missed by their grandchildren: Sarah, Joe, Kate, Susan, Theresa, and Michael.

A private service will be held to honor and remember Joe and Helen.  In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions to the Military Order of the Purple Heart, Chapter 620, c/o VFW Post 8673, 2815 E. Leffel Ln., Springfield, Ohio 45505, honoring Joe’s service and dedication to his country or the Second Harvest Food Bank, 20 N. Murray St, Springfield, OH  45503 in honor of Helen’s service in feeding the needy in her community.
