Helen Chiarello, age 101, passed away peacefully in the presence of two of her beloved nieces on Monday, January 23, 2023, at her residence at Wesley Glen Retirement Home. Formerly of Youngstown, Ohio, Helen graduated from Youngstown State University, was a retired hairdresser, and owned her own beauty shop in Youngstown for many years.
Helen was preceded in death by her husband Anthony, parents Michael and Justina Tkaczychyn, three brothers, and a sister. Survived by nieces Patricia (John) Poulos, Monica Coffin, and Sharon (Craig) Hartley; nephews Denis E. (Barbara) Tikson, Mark E. (Kris) Tikson, M. Jeffrey (Peggy) Tikson, and Scott A. (Susan) Tikson; and many great nieces and nephews.
Helen was loved greatly by her large, extended family. She will be remembered as the family’s historian and story keeper, and for her intelligence, wit, cooking, and zeal for life. She was the hub of the family, holding it together and keeping it moving forward. She is already missed and forever loved.
The Mass of Christian Burial will be held on February 3rd at 10:30 a.m. at Our Lady of Peace Church, 20 E. Dominion Blvd. Burial later at Calvary Cemetery, Youngstown, Ohio.
