Harriet F. Gowdy, 96, of Friendship Village in Dublin, OH (formally of Blacksburg, VA), died Wednesday, Nov. 17, 2021 in Dublin Methodist Hospital. She was born in Seattle, WA on March 20, 1925, daughter of the late Gordon and Agnes Lyberg Gowdy.
She was a retired registered nurse, receiving a B.S. in Nursing in 1947 from the University of Washington, former public health nurse in south western Virginia serving four counties (Montgomery, Floyd, Giles, Pulaski) and the city of Radford.
Harriet was a member of Covenant Presbyterian Church in Upper Arlington, OH and a regular attendee of Chaplain Dillman’s services at Friendship Village of Dublin.
She was also preceded in death by her husband, Horace (Harry) Damant, who died in 2006, a brother, Clifford Gowdy, sisters-in-law, Rosellen Gowdy and Eunice Burgess, and brother-in-law, Walter Burgess.
Surviving are her two sons, Brian D. (Ginny) Damant of Columbus, OH and Dennis G. Damant of Gloucester Point, VA, two grandchildren: B. David Damant Jr. and Michelle (Thomas Lee) Mainwaring, and several nieces.
