Gloria Beickelman Obituary

Gloria T. Beickelman became one of heaven’s angels on January 18th at the glorious age of 99 years old. Gloria was born in Columbus, Ohio on January 7th 1922.

Gloria was married to Noll Christian DeLaughder, a highly decorated war hero and veteran of the Battle of the Bulge (Gold Star, Silver Star, and Purple Heart) in World War II, in August 1947. She became a young widow at the age of 35 and was a loving single mother, raising their 4 kids: Mike, Elaine, Mary Ellen, and Mark.

Gloria got married again at the age of 52 to Bernie Beickelman. She always told her children and others that “Not too many women can say they have been married to two wonderful men.” Together, they loved to travel, go out to eat, and visit their many adoring grandchildren.

Gloria worked at St. Ann’s Hospital as an administrative secretary. Gloria loved to spend her time sewing, cooking, baking, and crocheting. She also was an active member at the Senior Center. Gloria volunteered at Mount Caramel East Hospital and was a Eucharistic Minister at The Dominican Sisters of Peace.  She loved visiting Sister Mary at the Carmelite Monastery in Bexley, Ohio. She was a devoted Catholic woman who attended mass regularly.

Gloria is survived by her four children: Mike DeLaughder, Elaine Schwartzwalder (Mike), Mary Ellen DeLaughder, and Mark DeLaughder. Gloria was a doting grandmother to her 10 grandchildren including Jason (Nikki), Joey (Jamie), Brandon (Nicole), Natalie (J.D.), Jenah (Adam), Lynsey, Kaley, Britany (Ben), Barbara, and Noll.

Gloria was also fortunate enough to be a great grandmother to 12 great grandkids and one on the way.

In addition, Gloria was loved dearly by other family members and close friends including Meg Friend, Bernie Melchiorre, Debbie Kerns, Mike Diersing, Betty Holland (who was one of her bridesmaids in her wedding to Noll), Marcella, and Bernice Henne.

Visitation hours are from 10-12 on Friday, January 22nd at Egan-Ryan Funeral Home on Kenny Road. A Funeral Mass will be held at Our Mother of Sorrow at St. Joseph Cemetery on 6440 South High Street, Lockbourne, Ohio.
