George J. Muszynski passed away peacefully in his home at Creekside At The Village in Columbus, OH on June 21, 2024. Born on January 23, 1936 in Warsaw Poland, he is preceded in death by his parents Janusz and Hildegard (Wattman) Muszynski and brother Henry Muszynski.
He leaves behind his wife of 59 years Sandra (Forte) Muszynski, son Doug Muszynski, daughter Anna (Muszynski) Pugh, daughter-in-law Jennifer (Nixon) Muszynski, son-in-law Brandon Pugh, grandchildren Nicholas Muszynski, Lilian Muszynski, Kyra Pugh, Teagan Pugh, Aleena Pugh, Nephews Randy Muszynski, Greg Muszynski, Brian Muszynski, Steven Muszynski and niece Wanda Muszynski.
Upon escaping Poland after WWII and immigrating to the United States at age 14, he finished high school and obtained a scholarship for football and track to the University of South Dakota where he received a Bachelor of Science in both mechanical and electrical engineering. A majority of his career was spent at Anchor Hocking, where he retired after over 20 years. He went on to do consulting work for many years after retirement. He started with Anchor Hocking in Jacksonville, FL; however, after 6 years he moved to Lancaster, Ohio to be the plant manager. After retiring from Anchor Hocking he ended up moving back to Jacksonville, Florida to help modernize the former Anchor Hocking plant. He and Sandy lived in Jacksonville, FL for the next 30 years. They recently moved back to Ohio this past year to be near family.
In retirement, he was very involved with the Lions Club in Jacksonville and their philanthropies. He took on roles of President, Treasurer and building manager. He was very proud of the work he did with the Lions club. He loved to laugh, travel, snow-ski, boat, work on his boat and cars, and work in the yard. He was a kind person who would help anyone.
Friends may call at Egan-Ryan Funeral Home, 403 E. Broad St, Columbus, OH 43215 from 2-4 on Thursday, June 27 where a Funeral Service will follow at 4 pm.
