Gary S. Watson

Gary Stephen Watson passed away peacefully on June 10, 2024 at Kobacker House from heart related issues. He was born on August 2, 1953 in Columbus, Ohio, and was predeceased by his parents, William Watson, Sr., and Mary Brooks Watson, formerly from Worthington, Ohio. 

He leaves behind brothers William Watson, Jr. of Columbus, and Father Michael Watson of Grove City; sisters Patti Overholser (James) of Pepper Pike, and Barbara Bechtol of Columbus, Ohio; nieces Joy Bechtol and Katie Overholser (husband Matt Palsgrove), and nephew Nick Overholser.  He also leaves behind his beloved Rhonda Sandt, who has been devotedly by his side for the past 13 years.  He will also be missed by Rhonda and Gary’s sweet dogs, Suzie and Marjean, who is going strong at 18 years old!!

He graduated from Ohio State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration,  majoring in Accounting. Later he received a Law Degree, also from Ohio State. He worked in the accounting office at Children’s Hospital, and eventually left to take the position of Office Manager, Legal Counsel, and Comptroller of an upstart company, Scioto Darby Concrete, Inc.; from where he became part owner. 

He was known to be quite competitive on the golf course and softball field; plus enjoyed skiing.  In his later years, he enjoyed socializing with his friends, working on crossword and jigsaw puzzles, and relaxing on his patio. 

Friends may call 11:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. Monday June 17th at Egan-Ryan Funeral Home Northwest Chapel 4661 Kenny Rd. where his Funeral Service will be held at 1:00 p.m. a reception will be held immediately following the service at the St. Andrew Bryce Eck Activity Center, 3880 Reed Rd. Columbus, Ohio, 43220.In lieu of flowers friends who wish may contribute in his memory to the Humane Society or Kobacker House.
