Gary C. Baker

Gary C. Baker, age 74, passed away October 21, 2024 at home surrounded by his loving family.  Gary was born on September 8, 1950 in Cleveland, Ohio, to the late Clifford and Ruth Baker.  He was a graduate of Olmsted Falls High School.  He then received his Bachelor’s Degree in Education from Bowling Green State University and his Master‘s Degree in Business Administration from Baldwin Wallace University.  Gary started his career as a science teacher at Fairview High School in Fairview Park Ohio.  He then began a career in business working at numerous companies training and managing consultants in the computer industry.  Gary loved teaching and wanted to continue working with students.  While working in the corporate world, he was also a part time instructor at Columbus State Community College for 25 years. He retired from Information Control Corporation (ICC) in 2019.  He was a longtime member of St. Patrick Church where he was involved in numerous organizations.  Gary was an avid golfer and a lifelong fan of the Cleveland Guardians, Browns and Cavaliers.  He is preceded in death by his parents, Clifford and Ruth Baker; his cherished uncle, Alan Russ; infant daughters, Courtney Baker and Mary Patricia Baker.  He leaves behind his loving wife of 47 years, Patricia “Patty” Baker; daughters, Heather (Marc) Mathewson and Keelin (Thomas) Johnson; grandchildren, Carly (Michael) Greer, Alec (Kristen) Mathewson, Megan Mathewson, Colin Mathewson, Dominic Johnson, Juliet Johnson, Mary Catherine Johnson, Luke Johnson, Leo Johnson and Anthony Johnson; great-grandson, Oliver Greer; brothers, Craig (Nan) Baker, Rick (Cindy) Baker and Scot (Denise) Baker; many nieces, nephews and other relatives.  Friends may call Thursday from 5-8 p.m. at Egan-Ryan Northwest Chapel, 4661 Kenny Road where a Rosary will begin at 7:45 p.m..  Mass of Christian Burial will be Friday at 10:00 a.m. at St. Patrick Church, 280 North Grant Avenue.  Burial to follow at Resurrection Cemetery.
