Francis Kreber Obituary

Francis (Frank) Robert Kreber, age 95, passed away peacefully on February 5th, surrounded by his wife of 68 years, Mary Lou (Devaney) Kreber, and his seven children. Frank was born August 22, 1928, in Columbus, Ohio.  He and Mary Lou split their time between Columbus, Ohio and Naples, Florida.

Frank is preceded in death by his father, Raymond Kreber, Sr., his mother, Esther Kreber, his sisters, Joan Kreber, Mary Virginia (Ginny) Kreber and his brother, Raymond Kreber, Jr.  Frank is survived by his wife, Mary Lou Kreber, and children: Molly (Bill) Scott, Christina (Mike) Higgins, Ann (Doug) Miller, Joe (Pam) Kreber, Julie (Bob) Mullenix, Jack (Shelley) Kreber and Jim (Jennifer Mackenzie) Kreber.

Frank graduated from St. Charles Preparatory School and from St. Charles College.  Frank also attended St. Charles and Mount St. Mary’s Seminaries, and although he ultimately chose not to become a Catholic priest, his years in the seminary had a great impact on his life and faith. He actively served in the Army – Ohio National Guard during the Korean War. After his discharge, Frank met and married the love of his life, Mary Lou Devaney, and together they raised seven children, which led to 26 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren, and counting. Frank worked in the family business, Kreber Graphics, in a leading role for 70 years. With his brother Raymond, Jr., they grew the business, started by their grandfather in 1905, into a multi-state operation that continues with the 5th generation today.

Frank was extremely generous, and positively impacted the lives of many people, both in the U.S. and abroad.  Above all, Frank was a faithful daily communicant and a member of both St. Brendan Parish in Hilliard and St. John The Evangelist Parish in Naples.  While raising his family, he was a dedicated member of St. Agatha Catholic Church, and passed peacefully on The Feast of St. Agatha.  Frank was an avid and fiercely competitive Euchre player. He also enjoyed boating and teaching his kids and their many friends how to waterski.
