Frances Peters Obituary

Frances I. Peters (Snyder), born December 21, 1923, passed away July 9, 2019 at First Community Village, her home in her final years. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, aunt and friend and will be deeply missed by all who knew her. She was a lifelong resident of Columbus’ east side and a member of St. Thomas the Apostle Church. A war bride in 1943, Frances married “Pete” on furlough and after the war they were blessed to have a son, Jerry, who she doted on. Suddenly widowed in 1969, her aunt Ann became her faithful companion for the rest of their shared days. She proudly worked for Mr. Bowles’ IGA grocery store on 5th Avenue for 42 years. Fran was a devout Catholic, loved her family, praying the rosary and living out her faith in word and deed.

Frances was preceded in death by her husband, Fred “Pete” Peters, son, Jerry, parents Michael and Elizabeth Snyder, siblings, Valeria (Terry) Wilson, Joseph (Leah) Snyder, Robert (Sue) Snyder, Richard (Joanie) Snyder, Bernard (Rita) Snyder and her dearest aunt Ann Snyder. She is survived by her loving grandsons Matthew (Janeen) Peters and Joshua (Jandi) Peters, and great-granddaughters Elise and Lana Peters. Frances also leaves behind many generations of beloved nieces and nephews. Friends may call Saturday, July 13 from 9-10 a.m. at EGAN-RYAN FUNERAL HOME, 403 East Broad Street. Mass of Christian Burial will follow on Saturday, July 13 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Thomas the Apostle Church, 2692 East Fifth Avenue. Burial to follow at St. Joseph Cemetery.
