Floyd R. Claprood, Sr., age 90, passed away October 8, 2021. Graduate of Aquinas College High School in 1949. Member of the following associations: Ohio Florist Association, Society of American Florists, Wholesale Florist and Florist Supplier Association, The Athletic Club of Columbus, and The Columbus Mannerchor. After high school he shortly worked at Roman J. Claprood Company in Sun City, Florida and then moved back to Columbus to eventually become President of Roman J. Claprood Company. He worked for the Roman J. Claprood Company for 72 years. Floyd was an avid golfer, Harley enthusiast and one of Ohio State Buckeyes greatest fans. Preceded in death by his parents, Roman J. and Florence A. (Diebel) Claprood; sisters, Mabel C. Simmons and Romaine C. Glisson; daughter-in-law Julie A. Claprood; granddaughter; Melissa J. Claprood; first wife, Mary Ann Devine Claprood; wife, Joy Dianne (Riehl) Claprood. Survived by sister, Barbara A. Kiefhaber; children, Roman James, Floyd Raymond Jr. (Susan), David Charles (Cynthia), Constance Ann, Mary Elizabeth (Duke) Kritz, Cecilia Mae (John) Miller, Christopher Vernon Lee (Amy), Kevin Michael, Mary Jean Margaret (Barry) Gropp, Christopher B. and Gay Jean; 16 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. Friends may call Thursday from 4-7 p.m. at Egan-Ryan Funeral Home, 403 East Broad Street. Mass of Christian Burial will be Friday at 11 a.m. at Christ the King Church, 2777 East Livingston Ave. Burial to follow at St. Joseph Cemetery.
