Ellyn Fountain Obituary

Ellyn Marie Fountain, age 56, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, November 18, 2021. She is survived by her husband and “Bunny” of 30 years, Kurt Fountain, three children and “Lovebugs'', Jillian, Bridget and Ian Fountain, sisters Ann Hanning and Mary Santos, brothers Pat (Kitty) and Mike (Kathy) Whitehead, many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. She rejoined both her parents, Patrick and Helen Whitehead, and her three siblings, Ginny, Joe, and Tom Whitehead, all who preceded her in death. Ellyn’s childhood was spent in a busy and buzzing house of eight children, of which she was the youngest. She graduated from St. Francis DeSales High School in 1983 and became a buckeye soon after. While attending Ohio State University she met the love of her life, Kurt Fountain; they were married in 1991. She graduated in 1989 with a bachelor’s degree in Human Ecology. Ellyn had a knack for fashion and style which she turned into a retail career that she was very proud of, working for Paul Harris, Episode, Banana Republic, Levi Straus, and Macy’s. She was most proud of being a mom to her kids Jillian (Jilli Bear), Bridget (Little Middle), and Ian (Monkey) to whom she taught many valuable life lessons they will carry with them. Be a good listener. Validate others. Make your bed every morning. Ellyn had an undeniable gift of connecting with people and with her passing, many have lost their best friend. She had a sincere curiosity of other people's lives that made them feel comfortable and loved. She combined this passion for people with her creative talents by opening her own manicuring salon last year. The Happy Camper Nail Bar became her happy place, where she laughed with old friends and made so many new ones. Ellyn will be immensely missed as a friend, sister, wife, and mother, but she will live on in our hearts forever.
