Ellen Virginia “Ginny” Whightsil (Reichert), age 98, passed away April 12, 2022. Ginny was born in Columbus, Ohio on June 18, 1923 to the late Charles and Emma Reichert. She is a 1941 graduate of Holy Rosary High School. Ginny married the love of her life, Ross Whightsil in 1954 and enjoyed many years with him especially going to Florida and attending Cincinnati Reds games. In fact, the picture in the obituary is from a game she attended last year on her birthday. She was a devoted caregiver to not only Ross when he developed Parkinson’s, but to all her brothers and sisters when they needed her. She retired from Wright-Shriner Insurance Agency after many enjoyable years. She was a longtime member of St. Agatha Church. Ginny is preceded in death by her parents, husband and her 13 brothers and sisters; Bernard, Mary Louise, Margaret, Gertrude, Lillian, William, Barbara, Charles, Mary, John, Emma, Margaret Rose, and Raymond. She is survived by nephew, Bill Cain and niece, Martha Cain; many great-nieces and great-nephews; caregivers and friends, Debra Heimann, Tom Schneider, Lori Bott and Mary Ellen Thomas. The family would like to express their gratitude to the staff of Feridean Commons for insuring Ginny’s last few months were comfortable and pleasant. Mass of Christian Burial will be Monday, April 18 at 11:00 am at Our Mother of Sorrows Chapel, 6440 South High Street. Burial to follow at St. Joseph Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent in Ginny’s name to the Maryknoll Fathers and Brothers, PO Box 301, Maryknoll, NY 10545-0301.
