Edward James Cavanaugh, age 77, passed away on February 1, 2026 at home in Columbus, Ohio. He was a devout Roman Catholic who was a member of Saint Brendan the Navigator in Hilliard, Ohio. He retired from insurance sales and was a former President of the National Association of Health Underwriters. He loved grilling, sailing, Cleveland sports, coaching his children' s sports teams, enjoying Indy Car racing, and spending time with grandkids and family. He is preceded in death by his parents Edward James Cavanaugh and Mary Elizabeth (O’Brien) Cavanaugh; siblings Thomas Cavanaugh and Bonita (Cavanaugh) Connelly. He is survived by his wife, Rebecca (Benson) Cavanaugh; children, Ellen (Tegan) Cavanaugh, Molly (Brett) Davis, and Eddie (Devin Powell) Cavanaugh; grandchildren, Brett Davis II, Bryce Davis, Kai Cavanaugh. Mass of Christian Burial will be Monday, February 16th at 10 am at St. Brendan the Navigator Church, 4475 Dublin Road. Burial to follow at Resurrection Cemetery.
