Dwight Allen

Dwight E. Allen, age 79, went to eternal life on August 15, 2021.  Born March 15, 1942 in Richmond Dale, Ohio.  Retired after a long career in the Financial Services Industry.  Member of St. Matthew Catholic Church and former member of St. Catharine Church where he began the Summer Fun Festival.  He was an Extraordinary Minister and RCIA Sponsor,  and member of the Knights of Columbus and Friends Across Time Mentor. Preceded in death by parents Howard L. and Elizabeth D. (Stockman) Allen; brothers Harold R. Allen and Charles “Parky” D. Allen; niece Sheila L. Allen and great nephew Brandon R. Allen.  Dwight is survived by his loving wife of 53 years Carolyn A. (Whipps) Allen; daughter Marianne (Mindy) E. Allen; son and daughter-in-law Michael T. and Sarah (Nicholson) Allen; grandson Luke A. Allen; sisters-in-law Vivian L. (French) Allen and Lettalee  “Prissy”  (Mason) Allen Cottrill; nieces and nephews Teresa J. (Michael A. ) Borland, Cynthia S. (Michael L.) Hensley, Dr. Kyle R. (Lynn Wrigley) Allen and C. Jeffrey Allen; many great and great great nieces and nephews, and many cousins.  There will be a Vigil Service Sunday at 2:00 pm and friends may call Sunday 2-4 p.m. at EGAN-RYAN FUNERAL HOME, 403 E. BROAD ST., and Monday 10:00 – 11:00 a.m. at St. Matthew the Apostle Church, 807 Havens Corners Rd., Gahanna, Ohio 43230 where the Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:00 a.m.  Private burial later at St. Joseph Cemetery.  Friends who wish may contribute in Dwight’s memory to Kobacker House, 800 McConnell Dr., Columbus, Oh 43214 or St. Matthew’s Knights of Columbus.
