Dorothy "Dottie" Trant

Dorothy “Dottie” Trant, age 94, passed away on January 5, 2026. She was born in Mingo Junction, Ohio on September 7, 1931 to the late William and Barbara Sinclair.  Dottie relocated to Columbus to work at Ohio Bell where she met her husband, James Trant.  They married on September 3, 1955 and raised 5 children in German Village.  Dottie was employed for over 30 years at Schmidts Sausage Haus in German Village.  Dottie loved The Ohio State Buckeyes and Pittsburgh Steelers.  She is preceded in death by her husband, parents and her 8 siblings.  She is survived by her children, Joseph, Emily (Kim) Doran, Jay (Tami), Ginny (Rick) Hounestine and John (Jen Ponn); numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.  Friends may call Friday, January 9 from 3-5 pm  at Egan-Ryan Funeral Home, 403 East Broad  Street where a Funeral Service will begin at 5pm.  A private burial will take place at Greenlawn Cemetery at a later date.
