Dorothy A. (Berendt) Barnes

Dorothy Barnes, age 95, passed peacefully December 19, 2024, with loving family by her
side.
Born July 4,1929 in Columbus. Graduated top of her class 1943 from Holy Rosary.
Graduated 1947 from Sacred Heart Commercial School. She worked with Decola Taxes,
medical attorneys and White Castle. Moved to California in 1967 and worked at TRW and
retired from Aerospace Corporation. She returned to Columbus, Ohio in 1994. She was an
adored and cherished Mother, Grandmother, Great Grandmother, Aunt and Great-Aunt. She
loved animals, gardening and collecting books. She was a valued donator to St. Jude's and
the SPCA.
Predeceased by her mother, Henrietta “Nettie” C. Berendt (Wittman) and father, Paul J.
Berendt; brother, Paul Berendt and sister, Alice Boland (Berendt}; sons, Michael William
Baumann of Columbus and David Paul Baumann of California.
Survived by daughters: Leslie A. Barnes of California and Kathryn A. Daft (Baumann) of
Columbus; 8 grandchildren: Matthew Baumann (Jennifer), Jordan Baumann, Shelly
Crossley (Adam), Stephanie Burchett (Gary), James Daft, David Baumann Jr. Kristen
Ricart, Carol Pittinger,12 great-grandchildren: Chloe, Connor, Cailyn, Sofia, Alexandra,
Cadence, Isabella, Alexander, Abigail, Caleb, Alexis and Aidan. Also, many nieces,
nephews, Great-Nieces and Nephews and furry companion, Thomas.
Friends may call December 29 from 1:00 – 3:00pm. Pastor Daniel Bell officiating service
with sharing beginning at 2:30 pm at Egan Ryan Funeral Home Northwest Chapel, 4661
Kenny Rd Columbus, Ohio.
Monday, December 30th for procession meet at Egan Ryan Northwest 12:00pm for
procession to St. Joseph Cemetery. Committal at 12:30 pm.
