Dianne Kahal-Berman Obituary

Dianne Elizabeth Kahal-Berman, née Basich, passed away on December 21st, 2020 in her home in Columbus, Ohio. She died peacefully in her sleep due to heart failure. On December 12th, 1950 Dianne was born in Williamson, West Virginia. Her Mother was the late Helen Joyce Tackis Basich and Father, Edwin Eugene Basick. She and her close younger sister, Marlena Basich grew up in Columbus together. Their Father remarried Dusty Basich having siblings Kelly, Peter, Tammy, and the late Stephanie. Dianne attended North High school. She was gifted in the arts and had a natural singing talent. In her youth, she toured with many bands including her cousin, Gene Cotton. She lived and worked in Nashville with the up-and-coming musicians. She had her two children, Drew Kahal and Elaine Berman who she stated were her greatest joys in life. While raising two children waiting tables, she went back to school and graduated from The Ohio State University with a degree in Civil Engineering. She dedicated her time and passion with ODOT and was a true highlight in the field. She was known for her highway project that helped grow pollinating plants to help repopulate bees. She was a dear friend with Debbie and Jay, Brenda and Tom, and Don. She loved all of her friends as family. She was a woman of faith and raised in the Catholic church. She enjoyed singing in the choir for Holy Name Church. She was a wonderful Nana to her grandchildren Camden, Coleton, Harper and would have been to the two little ones on the way! Her friends and family love and miss her dearly.
