Denise Marie Madigan Cottrell, PhD

Denise Marie Madigan Cottrell, Ph.D., age 79, Wednesday, September 4, 2024.  Longtime member of St. Andrew Parish and emeritus member of the American Chemical Society.  Received her Bachelor’s of Science from Loyola of Chicago and Ph.D. in Chemistry from The Ohio State University.  After raising her children, she returned to her professional career at The Ohio State University.  She loved watching her grandchildren grow up, enjoyed her flower garden, and raised many beloved animals.  She is preceded in death by her husband, Charles Edward Cottrell, Ph.D.  Survived by her children, Daniel James (Katharine Ball) Cottrell, Catherine Elise (Andrew Drury) Cottrell, Ph.D., and Colleen Elizabeth (David) Erdman; stepson, Charles Edward Cottrell II; grandchildren, Charlotte Cottrell, Ella Erdman, Addison Erdman, Ryan Drury, and Rosalie Cottrell.  Friends may call Friday, September 6, 2024, from 10-11 a.m. at St. Andrew Church, 1899 McCoy Road where a Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m.  Burial to follow at Resurrection Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers, friends may contribute in her memory to St. Andrew Church, 1899 McCoy Road, Columbus, Ohio 43220.
