David Stanton Walsh, born in Columbus, Ohio, May 10,1943, to Ellen Bowen Walsh and James Stanton Walsh, passed away on April 18, 2026, at the age of 82. He is a graduate of Bishop Watterson High School and attended The Ohio State University. As an only child, David is survived by his beloved wife of 26 years, Hilda Walsh; stepson Chad (Nicolett) Perry; son’s Robert Walsh and Scott Walsh; daughters Molly (Troy) Stukey and Nancy (Brad) Lochman. He was a proud grandfather to Olivia and Caroline Stukey; Ryan, Jack and Grace Lochman; Elaina Walsh; Caden, Conor and Jackson Perry.
David was known for his sharp wit, keen industry acumen and an unwavering commitment to business excellence, qualities that define both his career as well as his character. His insight, humor and leadership left a lasting impression on all who worked with and loved him. He will be deeply missed by his family and all who have had the privilege of knowing him.
A passionate traveler and a man that never met a stranger, David visited every U.S. state and more than 30 countries with Hilda, always eager to learn, explore and meet new people. In his free time, he loved discovering new restaurants and tending to his garden. As a member of the Scioto Reserve Country Club, he was an avid golfer and loved spending much time on the golf course. He had the pleasure of playing 52 golf courses across the country and abroad. He was a lifelong Buckeye fan and loved watching and cheering the games with his sister-in-law Mary. He especially loved celebrating his proud Irish heritage on St. Patrick’s Day.
David enjoyed a distinguished 37-year career at Worthington Industries, where he held several leadership roles. From 1988 to May 1991 he was relocated to Guelph, Canada as General Manager of Worthington Cylinders, Canada. He founded Emerald Isle Distribution, Inc., in 1996. Through his shrewd business sense and boundless work ethic, he built Emerald Isle into a thriving family business that continues under David’s vision and legacy.
After taking a board role in 2024, David embraced retirement and life’s pleasures with Hilda. They spent part of the year at their home in Riveria Nayarit, Mexico, where they cherished warm winters, beach walks, and many friendships. A special place in both their hearts where many wonderful memories were made.
David was a proud supporter of St. Jude Children’s Hospital; American Lung Association; Disabled Veterans; Wounded Warriors; Shriners and American Heart Association.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Mr. David Stanton Walsh’s name to the American Cancer Society or the American Heart Association. A Celebration of his Life will be scheduled at a later date.
