Charles Leo Benson, age 87, passed away March 10, 2023. Leo was an electrician at John Glenn Airport and employed by the City of Columbus. He was a veteran of the United States Marine Corps having served during the Korean War. Leo was a member of Immaculate Conception Church and was also President of Resident Council at Smith’s Mill Health Campus. Leo loved putting together puzzles, birdwatching, and was a lifelong fan and supporter of the Ohio State Buckeyes! He also loved God with his whole heart and did his best to brighten the day of everyone he met. He was preceded in death by his wife, Barbara Benson, by his parents, Frederick and Jeanne Benson and also Thomas Jeremiah Benson, Thomas Jean (Kate) Benson, Josephine Benson, Jacqueline (Bob) McFadden, Frederick (Pat) Benson, Pierre Benson, Madeleine (Bob) Peters, Rosemarie Benson, and Daniel Benson. He is survived by his brother, John Benson; sister, Connie Roy; children, Regina Benson, Rita (Brenda Okeeffe) Benson, Mary (Gary) Triplett, Matthew Benson; stepchildren, Kelly (Charlie) Evans and Scott Notestine; grandchildren, Amber (Nicholas) Stephenson, Megan (Adam) Gonce, Rio Benson, Maya Benson and Hannah Okeeffe, Allen Evans, Taylor Lahman, Amber Dean, Nick Notestine, Cody Notestine, and Zack Notestine: great grandchildren, Dillon Triplett, Lucas Gonce, Amelia and Lincoln Lahman, Nicholas Stephenson and Wyatt Stephenson; many nieces, nephews, and loving friends. Friends may call Tuesday, March 14 from 10:00am-12:00pm at Egan-Ryan Funeral Home, 403 East Broad Street. Funeral Mass will be held Tuesday following calling hours at 12:30 p.m. at Our Mother of Sorrows Chapel, 6440 South High Street. Burial to follow at St. Joseph Cemetery.
