Charles Raphael Malowney, 80, passed away peacefully at home January 8, 2024. He was born in Springfield, OH, October 29, 1943, moved to Columbus in 1954. A graduate of Grandview Heights High School where he was a member of the Brotherhood of the Rooks, Attended The Ohio State University and served in the United States Marine Corp. Had a long career in the central Ohio printing and publishing industry. A devout Catholic, he was a Knight of the Holy Sepulchre of Jerusalem, served on the Board of the Pontifical College Josephinum, and a member of St. Joseph Cathedral Parish. He was a long-time member of The Athletic Club of Columbus and Scioto Country Club. Preceded in death by parents Charles and Wilma Malowney, brothers William and Paul, sisters Elinor and Monica Hughes. Survived by a loving wife of 55 years, Catherine Lynn, daughters Catherine Paige (Kevin Calland), Adrienne Lynn (James Starkey), grandchildren Catherine Danielle & Joseph Rapheal Geer and four step-grandchildren. Brothers Patrick (Susan), Edward (MaryJo), and sister Carol (Doug Akers) and many nieces and nephews. A special thank you to long time devoted caregiver and friend, Bernadette Wren. Visiting hours will be Thursday, January 18 from 5-7 p.m. at Egan-Ryan Funeral Home, 403 East Broad Street. Mass of Christian burial will be Friday, January 19 at 10 a.m. at St Joseph Cathedral, 212 East Broad Street. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in the memory of Charles R. Malowney to The Catholic Foundation or a charity of your choice.
