Cecilia Nyann Obituary

In Loving Memory of Cecilia Akuba Nyann

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Cecilia Akuba Nyann, a cherished soul whose quiet grace touched all who knew her. On the evening of October 9, 2024, after a long and courageous battle with illness, Cecilia was called home, leaving behind a legacy of strength, faith, and love. Born on November 9, 1963, in Sefwi-Wiaso, Western Region, Ghana, Cecilia was a devout Catholic from her earliest days, holding fast to her faith throughout her life. Her Rosary was her constant companion, a symbol of her deep connection to God.

Cecilia’s academic journey led her to Arch Bishop Porter Girls Polytechnic, where she honed her skills as a Stenographer Secretary. Her exceptional work ethic and sharp mind soon earned her a prominent role with the Ghana Ministry of Defense, where she served as the Confidential Secretary to the Chief of Defense Staff. Her integrity and dedication helped safeguard sensitive national security information, and she played a pivotal role in the digital transformation of the Ghana Military Hospital’s Medical Records Data office.

Though a woman of few words, Cecilia’s calm and composed demeanor spoke volumes. Often misunderstood, she was in truth a gentle, kind-hearted individual whose presence will be deeply missed by all who loved her. Her passing has left a void in our lives, but the love, memories, and bonds she created will endure forever. Cecilia is survived by her beloved son Fritzgerald, life-long partner Kenneth, eight siblings, Colonel (Rtd) Mike T. Addy, aunt Anna Addy, and many dear cousins, both near and far.

Cecilia, affectionately known as Mom, Agba, and Ndakokor, we miss you dearly. We are comforted by the knowledge that while we grieve now, we will meet again in eternal joy, as promised in John 16:22: “So with you: Now is your time of grief, but I will see you again and you will rejoice, and no one will take away your joy.”

Rest in peace, dear Cecilia. Your memory will live on in our hearts forever. Yɛdɔ wo.
