Carol Elliott Baas, age 81 of Westerville Ohio, passed away peacefully June 27th, 2024, with her family by her side. She is preceded in death by her parents Frederick (Fritz) L. and Lucille Elliott Baas, her brothers Donald, John and Fritz Baas, sisters Sally Ann Bickley and Sharon Kenney, sister-in-law Marie and Arey Baas. She is survived by her lifelong partner Jim Clark, daughters Vickie (Ron) Overstreet and Cathleen (Matt) Siech and sister Claire (Wendell) Kessler and sister-in-law Ruth Baas. Her grandchildren, Nick and Chris Siech, were the loves of her life. That love was also extended to her step-grandchildren Knox (Taylour), Jansan, Daley, Griffin and Lona Overstreet; many nieces and nephews. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
Carol grew up in Bexley and graduated from Bexley High School class of 1961 where she was in the choir and in many organizations. After High school she attended Ohio Dominican. She kept a very close relationship with many of her high school friends. Everyone that knew Carol knows she was a very Loyal friend. Carol loved to dance and sing. She was a member of the Columbus Country Club, The Capital Club, the Columbus Maennerchor and attended St. Albans Church. Carol was involved with many cultural activities i.e.: Columbus Symphony etc. Carol was a law librarian at Schottenstein Zox and Dunn for over 20 years. She then moved to Hilton Head where she met Jim and lived for 5 years. Living in Hilton Head was something she enjoyed but missed her girls and moved back home.
Carol loved her daughters. She was the BEST mother anyone could ask for. She was always there to listen and give us hugs. We strived to be like her with our children.
Her grandchildren were a big part of her life. She was an amazing Nana. You could always count on Nana being the boy’s biggest cheerleader. She was also an amazing Nana for the “fur grand dogs”. She was an avid Ohio State football and basketball fan; however, when Penn state and Ohio state played there was great rivalry. She would get all dressed up in her gear and cheer them on.
The family would like to thank Care 360 Hospice, Jessica, Erin and Marty, for their compassionate care during Carol’s final days.
Friends may call from 10:30a.m. – 12:30 p.m., Wednesday July 3rd at Egan-Ryan Funeral Home, 403 E. Broad Street, Columbus, Ohio 43215.
