Bridgid Joan (Shanahan) Horsley Palmer, age 61, passed away peacefully after a courageous battle with pancreatic and lung cancer. She was surrounded by her loving family. She was born October 13, 1960, to Iris Joan (Horner) and the late Peter F. Shanahan. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jeff Palmer; former husband, Joseph Horsley; and her brother, Kevin Shanahan. She is survived by her loving children Joseph (Amy) Horsley, Brendan Horsley, and Tara (Justin) Belcher; her grandchildren Gabriel, Isabella, and Skylar Horsley, Jace, Jude and Hayden Belcher; her siblings Kathleen (Peter) Burke, Timothy and John Shanahan, Peggy (Jim Tarantine) Shanahan, and sister-in-law, Sherri Shanahan; many nieces and nephews, Aunt Suki and Uncle Jim, and lots of cousins. Special thanks to our “illegitimate” brother-in-law and her longtime loving companion, Tom Musick. Bridgid attended Immaculate Conception Catholic School and graduated from Bishop Watterson in 1978. She was an Irish dancer and was involved with many Irish activities through the Daughters of Erin. She loved her Irish Heritage. Bridgid was happiest when her children were young and all the neighborhood kids would come over to enjoy her homemade play-doh, pinatas, and sidewalk chalk. It was appropriate that she passed on her saint’s day, the Feast of St. Bridgid. On the eve of St. Bridgid’s, brother John hung one of her t-shirts outside to be blessed. Many thanks go to Dr. Yu-Ting Lozanski, Bridgid's long term OSU Family Practice Doctor , whose care and thoughtfulness were unsurpassed. Many thanks also go to Ohio Health Community Medicine, especially Kathy C., Nan, Jill Tucker, Tonja, and Dr. George, Bruce of Ohio Health Hospice who was wonderful, and to Fr. Matt Hoover for anointing Bridgid and preparing her for her eternal home. Mass of Christian Burial will be Thursday, February 10, 2022 at 10:30 a.m. Immaculate Conception Church, 414 E. North Broadway. Burial to follow at Resurrection Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions be made in Bridgid’s name to Clintonville Resource Center, Kids Club, 3222 North High Street, Columbus 43202.
