Biddie Clark Obituary

Biddie Fritz Clark, aged 92, passed away on March 1, 2025, at First Community Village in
Columbus, Ohio. Born on St. Patrick's Day in 1932, Biddie brought a touch of Irish luck and a
whole lot of joy to everyone she met. She was the daughter of the late Lawrence Byers and
Mildred Marie Peté Fritz of Ashland, Ohio. On July 16, 1955, Biddie married William Lewis
Clark, and together they raised four children who will continue to carry on her legacy of humor,
warmth, and kindness.

“My greatest accomplishment is my four wonderful children.”

Surviving children include Jeffery William Clark (Mary Ann), Mary Ellen Clark Wendling (Rich),
Katie Clark Bishop (Steve), and Carrie Marie Clark Moyer (Ken). She is also survived by her 12
grandchildren: Tommy (Dora), Matthew (Grace Walkowicz), and Alex (Katie Daehn) Clark;
Stacey and Joey (Elisabeth) Wendling; Jake (Colleen), Rachel, and Danny Bishop; and Megan
(Joshua Clabbers), David (Ally), Josh, and Caroline Moyer; 2 great grandchildren (Arthur
Daehn and Penelope Clark); and her sister, Rebecca Mach.

Biddie was a woman of many talents and passions. A proud graduate of Wittenberg University,
she studied Home Economics and Education, all while leading the Wittenberg band as drum
major and being nominated for Miss Wittenberg. She also developed and enjoyed lasting
friendships with her Gamma Phi Beta sorority sisters. After college, Biddie taught 2nd grade in
New Jersey before moving to Columbus, where she became an enthusiastic Ohio State
Buckeyes football fan.

Music was a lifelong love for Biddie. She played the flute, piccolo, guitar, and piano, and she
sang her heart out whenever she had the chance. For 51 years, she was a dedicated member
of Vaud-Villities, dazzling audiences with her solos, specialties, and even sewing costumes.
She was the original “Energizer Bunny,” always ready with a joke and a smile, and her quick wit
made her a joy to be around.

Her awards in Vaud-Villities were a testament to her talent and attitude. From winning the
Hammy Award for her role as Grandma in Grandma Got Run Over by a Reindeer in 2014 to
receiving the Robert J. Murphy Award for professionalism (2015) and the Lois Korde Award for
having the best attitude and willingness to do anything (2016), Biddie was a star in every sense
of the word.

Biddie’s talents didn’t stop on stage—she was an incredible cook and skilled seamstress. Her
famous “yum yums” will live on in the hearts of her grandchildren, and her Christening gowns
earned blue and purple (Best of Show) ribbons at the Ohio State Fair. Biddie had a knack for
creating beautiful things, whether it was her beloved Colonial-style décor or emergency
wedding dress alterations. When it came to making something special, she was the one you
could count on.

A dedicated member of First Community Church, Biddie served as a Deacon, Chairman of the
Board, and volunteered in countless ways, including singing in the Chancel Choir, playing in the
Bell Choir, participating in Guild, Couple’s Circle, and Prayers for Squares, working the church
garage sale, and sewing paraments for the church altar and pulpits. In 2010, she was awarded
the FCC Heart and Hand Award for her outstanding service and tireless efforts.

A celebration of Biddie’s life will be held on May 3, 2025, at 1 pm at First Community Church -
North Campus (3777 Dublin Rd., Columbus, OH 43221). All are welcome to join the Clark

life. We’ll carry your laugh, your love, your spunk, and your unshakeable spirit with us always.
