Barbara Mowery Obituary

On March 15th, in the early morning, Barbara Jean Mowery, age 92, of Dublin, Ohio, was finally reunited with the love of her life, Robert Mowery Sr.  We will miss her laugh, her humor, her intelligence, her wit, her support, and her love.

An astute businesswoman, she was the founder and president of Barbara J. Mowery & Associates, Inc.- a firm that provided ancillary legal services to attorneys on behalf of injured workers in Ohio. A trailblazer for her time, she took great pride in being a female entrepreneur.  With nothing more than a high school diploma, she entered a man’s world and forged a path to success.  Her drive to do what others told her couldn’t be done has been passed along to her children.  She made many sacrifices to give the best opportunities for her loved ones.  She had high standards, and sometimes even higher expectations, of herself and those around her.  Once she was able to see the fruits of her efforts, she settled into being the loving mother and grandmother she wanted to be.

When not forging new trails, she loved spending time with her family.  Especially, with what many jokingly called her 7th child…Dad!  Every year, a family vacation was a must.  When the children matured and developed their traditions, Barb and Bob continued to travel.  Most memorable was them spending their 50th wedding anniversary traveling around Europe.  With Bob being a cheerleader at OSU, the two spent a significant amount of time together rooting on the Buckeyes and enjoying every minute of it (especially when they won!).

Her closest relatives and friends were her brother, Russell, and his wife, Elsie. Whether growing up and scraping together some dimes to go to a movie and buying a bag of popcorn, or simply grabbing a six-pack of Coca Cola and playing Euchre all night long, it was the quality of the time spent together that really mattered. In their later years, whether traveling, going to OSU games, or sharing a glass of wine or two, they were able to enjoy many of the finer things in life.

She always loved family gatherings and truly enjoyed being the center of attention.  You always knew who ruled the roost; a loving hug was always given and received.  She especially loved her time with her many grandchildren.

She will be missed but never forgotten!  We love you!!!!

She was predeceased in 2004 by her beloved husband of 55 years, Robert D. Mowery, Sr. Left to cherish her memory are her children, Bob (Joanne) Mowery Jr., Barbara Lee (Bob) Parker, Terry (Marie) Mowery, Kimberly Hervi, Bryn (Jeff) Hartwell, and Nanette (Andy) Spears; grandchildren Sean (Todd Keever) Mowery, Erik (Jessica) Mowery, Graham (Katie) Parker, Audrey Mowery, Brett Mowery, Jessica Hervi, Suzanne Hervi, Tanya (Andy) Hurst, and Anthony (Reid) Spears; Along with her dearest friend, Elsie Carpenter and niece Pamela Lange.
