Andrew Billman Obituary

Andrew ‘Andy’ James Billman, 57, Columbus, Ohio, went home to be with Jesus on April 14th, 2026. He was surrounded by his wife and children at their home in South Carolina. Andy bravely battled a rare form of brain cancer, glioblastoma, for 8 years. Through every treatment hurdle including numerous rounds of chemo, radiation, and three grueling brain surgeries, Andy never wavered in his resolve. Despite enduring immense suffering, he walked daily with great courage and joy, never letting his prognosis define his outlook.

Born in Columbus on June 28, 1968, Andy was the son of loving parents H. Neal and the late Kay Billman. Andy grew up alongside his siblings, sister Beth (Dave) Zilch of Cincinnati, OH, and brother Michael (Kathryn) Billman of Dublin, OH. He was raised in Gahanna, OH, where he met his high school sweetheart Jodi and many lifelong friends.

Football was a foundational part of Andy’s upbringing. As a captain of both his high school and collegiate football teams, he led by example with integrity, humility, and grit on and off the field. He proudly played for the Gahanna Lincoln Lions and went on to earn a full-ride scholarship to Miami University, where he played center for the Miami Redskins and received his Bachelor of Science in Business. For Andy, the most meaningful part of those years was never just the game itself–the friendships, discipline, and values became a part of who he was long after football ended.

That same character marked the way Andy approached his work. After college, he built a career in manufacturing, eventually taking on executive roles over the course of his career. But more than any title, people remember the way he led. He had a gift for seeing potential in others, trusting them with real responsibility, and giving them the support they needed to grow. He led with humility, high standards, and a genuine investment in the people around him, never making it about himself.

Andy and Jodi shared 35 beautiful years of marriage and built a life rooted in faith, love, and deep devotion to one another. Together they raised their four children, Ellen (AJ) Yunker, Ryan (Courtney) Billman, Emily (Parker) Cole, and Owen (Grace) Billman, where Andy poured himself into family life and created a home full of love, wisdom, and belonging.

One of Andy’s most treasured roles was being Popsi to William, Drew, Pierce and Roman. He was so excited to welcome baby girl Cole this fall. Pops was their favorite storyteller, and he loved taking his grands for golf cart rides, swimming at the Habersham pool, and making them belly laugh.

Andy is also survived by his parents-in-law Paul and Alma Hochuli of Westerville, OH, along with many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends. His life was a testament to the truths found in James 1:12, his favorite verse–he persevered under trials of many kinds, stood the test, and on April 14, 2026, received the crown of Life.
