Albert Benjamin Fisher III died on July 9, 2024. Albert was born in Columbus, Ohio, on
December 6, 1947, to the late Albert B Fisher II and Evelyn (McDonald) Fisher. Albert was baptized on
January 4, 1948 at Holy Name Church Columbus, Ohio. He was an older brother to Gregory M. Fisher
(1949). He graduated from Don Bosco Preparatory High School in Franklin Lakes, New Jersey in 1965. He
held degrees from The Ohio State University and Fairfield University.
In a proud moment for Albert and his parents, Albert completed Naval Aviation Officer Candidate School
in 1969 and was commissioned as an Ensign in the U.S. Naval Reserve. He completed active duty in
1972. Albert was listed as a Vietnam Vet. For the remainder of his life, Albert proudly supported those
who completed military service and gladly shared stories about his experiences.
Albert had a successful career as a geological scientist for Owens Corning, where he researched
fiberglass and geological specimens. His accomplishments included holding a patent stemming from his
fiberglass and quartz research.
The focus and joy of Albert’s life was his wife, Kathleen (Connolly) Fisher, to whom he was married for 42
years. They shared a love of traveling and gardening, as well as an appreciation of the Great Pyrenees
dog breed. Their dogs Portia and Cara were beloved family members. They regularly welcomed friends
and family to enjoy their home, including their beautiful back yard, pond and healing garden. Over the
years they hosted several foreign exchange students from Europe. Albert had a lifelong interest in
military films, history, and classic movies. He was always a warm, easy-going presence, ready with a
light-hearted joke and a smile. He was active in his local community and attended Bible study classes. In
one of his many one-liners, he enjoyed boasting that he always got up at the crack of noon.
Albert was preceded in death by his wife Kathleen and his younger brother Gregory. He is survived by
four nieces and nephews, two great-nieces, and countless extended family, by whom he will be dearly
missed and cherished. Albert’s family are deeply grateful to all who offered care and support as he
faced his health issues with hope and grace.
Friends may attend the Memorial Service 10:00 am Tuesday July 23 at Our Mother of Sorrows Chapel with a Private Burial following at St. Joseph Cemetery.
