Agnes Dury Obituary

Agnes Gertrude Strapp Dury, age 97, died peacefully at home on May 9, 2018.  She was a loyal member of Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church for 56 years.  She worked as the parish secretary for many years and was very involved in the Church.  Preceded in death by her parents Olga (Weber) Strapp and Emmett Strapp, grandson Frank  M. Dury and husband of 48 years, Frank J. Dury.  Agnes was born on April 24, 1921 in Columbus.  She attended St. Aloysius elementary school and was a proud graduate of Holy Family High School, class of 1939.  Here she made lifelong friends,  affectionately called her “Old Hens”.   Her life centered around Church and family.  She raised six children and was a great “Mom”, grandmother and great-grandmother.  Her first grandchildren called her GaGa and that name stuck.   Her love of family and history led her to a lifelong passion for genealogy.   She traveled to Ireland, Utah, and Pennsylvania as well as throughout Ohio exploring her family history .   She documented her family history and that of her husband's, leaving an extensive collection of information for her family.   Agnes was a kind and gentle soul who was friends with everyone she met.   She will be sorely missed by her family.  She is survived by her six children:  Mike (Joan) Dury, Ron (Mary Lou) Dury, Mary Ann (Mike) Mulherin, Jim Dury, Sue (Kevin) Ganger, and Alice Dury.  Also survived by twelve grandchildren, Sean Mulherin, Bridget (Jim) Hughes, Patrick Mulherin, Ann (Paul) Fiorilli, Meg Dury, Tom (Dee) Dury, Ryan (fiancée Sara Oakley) Ganger, Tim (Nicole) Ganger, Scott (fiancée Shana Mahilo) Ganger, Doug (Amy) Dury, Jeff (Joanne) Dury, David (Jess) Dury and 11 great grandchildren, Palmer Hughes, Sophia Fiorilli, Esme Fiorilli, Grace Fiorilli, Gus Dury, Jack Dury, Thomas Dury, Emily Dury, John Dury, Katie Dury and Allie Ganger.

Special thanks to her Hospice nurses, Mary and Matt, caregivers, Courtney and Lauren, and amazing volunteer, Jane.   Also many thanks to Carol Walton, caregiver turned family.
