William “Bill” Gleich, age 88, departed this world on the afternoon of June 22, 2017.  Beloved husband, father, grandpa, great-grandpa, and friend, Bill possessed an infectious smile, playful spirit, amazing sense of humor, and unparalleled devotion for his family.  Bill’s favorite activities included being surrounded by his loved ones, playing golf, cheering for the Cincinnati Reds (and later the Cleveland Indians), negotiating a “sweet” deal, boasting about the accomplishments of his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, and doting on the love of his life and wife of 66 years Dolores.  A graduate of  Aquinas College High School and The Ohio State University School of Business, Bill served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.  Upon his return, he became the Athletic Director at Christ the King Catholic School, established athletic programs for both boys AND girls (an uncommon practice for that time), and for over thirty years positively influenced the lives of countless young men and women.  While his love of athletics initially began by playing football and baseball at Immaculate Conception Elementary School, Bill eventually served as President of the Central Ohio Baseball League and coached baseball at Ohio Dominican College.  In addition to all of these activities, Bill also set aside time to volunteer as a mentor for Junior Achievement, a program that teaches young students how to succeed in business.  After his retirement from Western Electric, Bill got the opportunity to indulge in his love of golf by getting his dream job as a valued employee and member of Fox Fire Golf Club.  A kind and loving soul, he will be greatly missed by all of those whose lives he touched.

Preceded in death by his mother, Irene (Woodward) Gleich; father, Jack L. Gleich; sister Mary (Gleich) Salser (Ed Salser); and mother-in-law Eleanor (Howard) Metzger.  Bill is survived by his wife, Dolores Gleich; children Bill Gleich, Patricia Clemans (Craig), Jim Gleich (Angie), Gary Gleich, Jeanne Gleich-Anthony (Dave), and Deborah Gleich-Bope (John); grandchildren Jimmy (Sarah), Danny (Morgan), Chelsea, Nate, Mark, Sarah, Anthony, and Michael; and great-grandchildren Jack, Kennedy, and Scarlett.   Friends may call 1 to 3 p.m. and 4 to 6 p.m. Sunday at the Egan Ryan Funeral Home 403 East Broad Street.  Mass of Christian Burial  will be Monday 10:00 a.m. at Christ the King Catholic Church, 2777 E. Livingston Ave.   Entombment will be at St. Joseph Cemetery.
