Sr. Mary Sarita McEneany, OP

Dominican Sister of Peace, Sister Mary Sarita McEneany died at Mohun Health Care Center, Columbus, OH on Friday, September 28, 2018. She was born in 1930 in Columbus, OH and in 1950 entered the congregation of St. Mary of the Springs, now the Dominican Sisters of Peace. Sister earned her degrees from the College of St. Mary of the Springs, now Ohio Dominican University and the University of Dayton. She taught in schools in Illinois, Michigan, New York, Pennsylvania, Steubenville, OH and in the Columbus diocese in Coshocton, Lancaster, Newark and in Columbus at St. James the Less and Holy Spirit. She ministered in Columbus at Sr. Joan McGough’s Podiatry Office, North Broadway Children Center, and at Mohun Health Care Center in the Transportation Office. She also ministered at St. George’s Hospital in Cincinnati. She was preceded in death by her parents James and Lucy Reeb McEneany, her sisters Jane McEneany, Patricia Riley, Sister M. Patrick McEneany, OSF, Sister Barbara Ann McEneany, CSC, and a brother, James McEneany, Jr. She is survived by nieces and nephews.  A Vigil of Remembrance Service will be held on Thursday, October 4, 2018, 4:45 PM at the Motherhouse of the Dominican Sisters of Peace, Columbus, Ohio with the wake continuing until 7:00 p.m. The funeral liturgy will be held at the Motherhouse of the Dominican Sisters of Peace on Friday, October 5 at 9:00 AM followed by burial at St. Joseph Cemetery. Funeral arrangements are by Egan-Ryan Funeral Home, 403 East Broad Street.
