Dominican Sister of Peace, Sister Mary Carmel Lectora died at Mohun Health Care Center, Columbus, OH on Friday, October 12, 2018. She was born in 1922 in Guayama, PR and in 1951 entered the Dominican Sisters of St. Catherine de’Ricci, now the Dominican Sisters of Peace. Sister earned her degree in Social Work from the Catholic University of Puerto Rico. She ministered in Florida, New York, Ohio, New Mexico, Pennsylvania, and Virginia. She was preceded in death by her parents Pablo Lectora Fantozzi and Elisa Desrrivieres Lebron, her brothers, Pablo Lectora, Jr. Harry Pablo Lectora, Pablo A. Lectora and her sisters, Marie Teresa Lectora Asch and Anna Carmen Lectora Tiburcio. She is survived by her sister, Esther J. Soffio and nephews. Her body will be received at the Dominican Sisters of Peace Motherhouse, Columbus Ohio on Tuesday, October 16, 2018. A Vigil of Remembrance Service will be held at 4:45 PM with the wake continuing until 7:00 p.m. The funeral liturgy will be held at the Dominican Sister of Peace Motherhouse at 9:00 a.m. on Wednesday, October 17, 2018. Burial will take place at a later date, at St. Agnes Cemetery, Menands, NY.
