Dominican Sister of Peace, Sister Martha (Sr. Vincent Ferrer) Starrett died at Mohun Health Care Center, Columbus, OH on Wednesday, March 29, 2017 . She was born in 1931 in Zanesville, Ohio and in 1949 entered the congregation of St. Mary of the Springs, now the Dominican Sisters of Peace.  Sr. Martha earned degrees from the College of St. Mary of the Springs now Ohio Dominican University and Notre Dame University. She taught in schools in the Columbus diocese at St. Francis of Assisi, Blessed Sacrament in Newark, and at Mary Immaculate School in Ossining, NY. She was Pastoral Minister at St. Thomas Parish in Zanesville. In Maryland, she ministered as  Spiritual/Retreat Director at the Bon Secours Spiritual Center.  She was preceded in death by her parents Paul and Theora Wagner Starrett, and her brother, Paul W. (Bill) Starrett. She is survived by her sister, Barbara Starrett.

Her body will be received at the Columbus Motherhouse on Tuesday, April 4, 2017 at 3:00 p.m. A Vigil of Remembrance Service will be held at 4:45 p.m. with the wake continuing until 7:00 p.m.  The funeral liturgy will be held at the Columbus Motherhouse of the Dominican Sisters of Peace at 9:00 AM on Wednesday, April 5, 2017.  Burial will take place at a later date.  Memorial gifts in Sr. Martha’s memory may be sent to the Dominican Sisters of Peace, Office of Mission Advancement, 2320 Airport Dr. Columbus, OH 43219 or submitted securely at oppeace.org
