Dominican Sister of Peace, Sister Jo Ann (Alexia) Lamantia died at Mohun Health Care Center, Columbus, OH on Tuesday, September 26, 2017.  She was born in 1941 in Toronto, OH and in 1959 entered the congregation of St. Mary of the Springs, now the Dominican Sisters of Peace. She earned degrees from the College of St. Mary of the Springs, (now Ohio Dominican University) and Marygrove College. She taught in schools in Connecticut, Illinois, Maryland, New York, Pennsylvania, West Virginia and in Columbus at Holy Name and St. Philip. She was a tutor at the Salesian Center and at the Dominican Learning Center.  She was preceded in death by her parents Philip and Elizabeth Berarducci Lamantia and her brother, Philip, Jr.. She is survived by her brothers Anthony, Paul, James; her sister, Elizabeth Miser; and many nieces and nephews.  Her body will be received at the Columbus Motherhouse on Thursday, September 28, 2017 at 3:00 p.m. A Vigil of Remembrance Service will be held at 4:45 p.m. with the wake continuing until 7:00 p.m. The Funeral Liturgy will be held at the Columbus Motherhouse at 9:00 AM on Friday, September 29 followed by burial at St. Joseph Cemetery.
