Dominican Sister of Peace, Sr. Clara (Irenaeus) Bauman, died at Mohun Health Care Center, Columbus, OH on Tuesday, January 22, 2019. She was born in Columbus, OH in 1930 and in 1949 she entered the former congregation of St. Mary of the Springs, now the Dominican Sisters of Peace. Sr. Clara earned degrees from the College of St. Mary of the Springs now Ohio Dominican University, Duquesne University and the Incarnate Word University in San Antonio. She taught in schools in Pennsylvania, New Mexico, in Steubenville and Wintersville, OH, and in the Columbus diocese at St. Francis, Holy Spirit, Our Lady of Peace Columbus, at Holy Trinity, Somerset and at Sacred Heart, Coshocton. From 1987 to 2000, she was Director of Religious Ed at St. John The Baptist in McHenry, IL. She was Pastoral Minister at St. James the Less in Columbus from 2001 to 2012. She was preceded in death by her parents John C. Bauman and Victoria Trapp Bauman, her sister, Dorothy and her brother, Irwin. She is survived by her sister, Bernadine Bauman and nieces and nephews. A Vigil of Remembrance Service will be held on Tuesday, January 29, 2019,4:45 PM at the Dominican Sisters of Peace Motherhouse Chapel, Columbus, OH with the wake continuing until 7:00 p.m. The funeral liturgy will be held at the Dominican Sisters of Peace Motherhouse Chapel on Wednesday, January 30, 2019, 9:00 AM, followed by burial at St. Joseph Cemetery by Egan-Ryan Funeral Home, 403 East Broad Street.
