Ruth Margaret (Clement) Streng

July 4, 1919 ~ October 9, 2017 (age 98) 98 Years Old

Ruth Margaret (Clement) Streng, of Columbus, Ohio died peacefully Oct. 9, 2017 at the Kobacker House, Columbus, Ohio. Born July 4, 1919 in Fayetteville, Ohio to Stella and John Joseph Clement both deceased. She married the love of her life, Ralph Lewis Streng, on December 30, 1942. Ralph and Ruth were together for 61 years until his death on July 15, 2004. She enjoyed a wonderful life of raising their 8 children, 14 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren. She was devoted first to our Lord, then to supporting Ralph and taking care of her family. She worked diligently and faithfully in this, her vocation, with great joy and with a sense of fulfillment. Ruth never lost sight of the significance of her Catholic faith, attending daily Mass along with praying the Rosary. Later, when she was not able to drive, she made sure that a family member took her to her beloved Christ the King Church for Sunday Mass. She enjoyed cooking, playing cards and dancing the waltz with Ralph until his passing. Gathering with her family later in her life brought much happiness to her days. When raising her eight children she assisted Ralph in running the family business, Streng's Market and Catering. She also was involved in her children's school activities. As busy as she was, she found time to sew costumes for school plays and for the Catholic holy day, "All Saints Day" on Nov. 1. Ruth belonged to: Christ the King's Women's Bowling League, Euchre Club, and Senior Citizens Group. Also the Elizabethan Guild, St. Ann's Guild, the women's Auxiliary for the Moose, American Legion, and Knights of Columbus. She is survived by her children; Ralph L (Lynda) Streng, Donna M. (Jim) Eckman, Michael H. (Patricia Reisz) Streng, Kathleen A. Kemery, Stephen F. (Cheri Mason) Streng, Marilyn S. (Rich) Cordle, Christine S. Schneider, and Martha J.
