Paul Douglas Brehm Obituary

Paul Douglas “Bear” Brehm, 69, died on April 6th in his home.  A graduate of Bishop Hartley High School, and The Ohio State University.  An avid sports fan and talented artist. He lived the majority of his life in Columbus, OH.  Preceeded in death by his parents; Paul and Jeanne Brehm. Survived by his dear wife of 46 years Susan Brehm; children Andy (Bethany) Brehm and Nikki (Mark) Watts; sister Connie (Benny) Stewart; brother David Brehm; five granddaughters: Juliana and Macy Brehm, Claire, Abigail, and Quinn Watts; many in-laws, nieces and nephews.  Doug worked as a graphic designer and artist throughout Columbus, finding the greatest enjoyment in the years he spent at Capital University. He was the longtime head boys soccer coach at Bexley High School earning accolades of State and National Regional Coach of the Year. Afterwards, he was the varsity girls soccer coach at Bishop Hartley High School. He was instrumental in developing the girl’s soccer program with the Columbus East Soccer Association in the 1990’s.  He also spent many years coaching youth sports. Doug was happiest sharing his love of sports, fishing, and art with his children and grandchildren and spending time with his dear friends: Tony Passero, Jan Zupnick and his classmates from the Bishop Hartley Class of 1967.  Friends may call Tuesday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at EGAN-RYAN FUNERAL HOME, 403 East Broad Street.  Mass of Christian Burial will be Wednesday at 11:00 a.m. at St. Catharine Church, 500 South Gould Road.  Private burial will be held at a later date.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Lifeline of Ohio or the Kidney Foundation.
