Paul Edward McMahon passed away on May 2, 2019 in Columbus, Ohio after a courageous fight against difficult illness.
Paul was born on January 29, 1944 in Youngstown, Ohio, the fourth of six children of John A. (Jack) McMahon, Sr. and Mary Helen McLaughlin McMahon. He leaves beloved siblings John A. (Sue) McMahon, Jr.; Anne (William) Sullivan; Charles (Sandra) McMahon; Patrick J. (Holly) McMahon; and Mary Elizabeth (Liz) McMahon; in addition, 11 dearly loved nieces and nephews, and many cousins
A proud graduate of Xavier University and the University of Miami MBA program, Paul spent his career in Finance, Banking and as an Auditor for the State of Ohio.
The foundation stones of Paul’s life were family, faith, friendship, and his Irish heritage.He will be keenly missed and always remembered.
At his beloved St Patrick Church in Columbus, Paul served for years on the Parish Council, as a Lector and an Usher. He warmly welcomed many new members to the Church and engaged them in parish life.
Paul was a Founding Member of the Ancient Order of Hibernians (AOH), Division II (Franklin County), where he served as Recording Secretary.
In 2009, Paul received the AOH’s coveted Commodore John Barry Award for Character and Distinguished Service. In 2013, he received the AOH’s distinguished Father William Corby Award. He was recognized and commended for these honors by:

Paul served two 3-year terms on the National Alumni Board of Directors of Xavier University and, at the local level, as President and Executive Secretary of the Columbus Alumni chapter. Honors included:
In 1998,the Xavier University Raise the Bar award for Outstanding Service
In 1999, the Xavier University Outstanding Alumni Chapter award
In 2002, the Xavier University’s distinguished D’Artagnan Award for Excellence and Service
The Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Saturday, May 18 at 11:30 AM at St Patrick Church (280 N Grant Avenue, Columbus, OH 43215).The family will receive friends at the church starting at 11:00 AM.
A Memorial Mass will held on Monday, May 20 at 11:00 AM at St. Edward Church (240 Tod Lane, Youngstown, OH 44504). The family will receive friends at the church starting at 10:30 AM.
Interment will take place privately.
