Joan Anita Zatezalo, age 84, passed away in her sleep on May 8, 2019 at Mother Angeline McCrory Manor. She was born in Cleveland, Ohio on January 13, 1935 to the late Stanley and Josephine Kromar. Stanley died at an early age of a heart attack. Joan graduated from Euclid High School. She attended Ohio University to study Drama and English. Joan left to get married before graduating to her first husband, Rich Frech and had two sons, Rick and Joe. During this time she worked for Eastern Airlines as a stewardess and marketing agent. While she was extremely proud of this career, she felt her biggest accomplishment was that of a homemaker. While married to Rich, she contracted Meningitis which left her crippled and brain damaged with some memory loss. She later remarried to her second husband Owen Miller and had two more sons, Christopher and Edward. She later remarried to the love of her life, Sergeant Edward Charles Zatezalo. They lived in Cleveland and had two daughters, Mari and Veronica. Joan and Edward moved to Columbus in 1995. Edward passed away in 1999 and Joan lived with her son, Edward in Columbus, except for a brief time they moved to Chicago. She has been a resident of Mother Angeline McCrory Manor for the past 4 years. She is preceded in death by her parents, Stanley and Josephine Kromar; husband, Sergeant Edward Charles Zatezalo; ex-husbands, Rich Frech and Owen Miller; sister, Gail Kromar; son, Christopher Kibler. She is survived by her children, Rick (Carmen) Frech of San Diego, CA, Joe (Tracy ) Frech of Springfield, VA, Edward S. (Veronica) Zatezalo of Columbus, OH, Mari-Jo Dykes of Cleveland, OH and Veronica Zatezalo of Cleveland, OH; 18 grandchildren, Joe and Megan Frech; Dillon Wilson, Julia Kibler, Morgan Kibler, Veronica Kibler and Christopher “C.J.” Kibler; Nicolas, Chase, Beau and Gianna Zatezalo; Allison, Christopher, Jacquelyn Dykes; Shawn Thomas, Victoria, Dakota and Kaydence Woods; sister, Susan. Friends may call Saturday from 9:30 -10:30 a.m. at Mother Angeline McCrory Manor, 5199 East Broad where the Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 10:30 a.m. Private burial to be held at West Park Cemetery at a later date. She will missed by all of her family, friends and acquaintances. She was known by all to be a Drama Queen or the Queen of the World. Your flamboyant personality will always be missed. We love you.
