JoAnne Denise (Carroll) Hauser

JoAnne Denise (Carroll) Hauser, age 90, Tuesday December 25, 2018 at Mt. Carmel  St. Ann’s Hospital. She is survived by children Bud (Rita), Bradley (Kim), Denise (Steve) Torrell; daughter-in-law Susan Hauser; 14 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren. Preceded in death by husband, Derrell B. Hauser Sr., son Christopher Hauser Sr. , sisters Mildred (Carroll) Montgomery, Virginia (Carroll) Fox, Dorothy (Carroll) Barleycorn, Kathleen (Carroll) Pfeifer, and brother Dennis J. (Buddy) Carroll.   JoAnne focused her life on her husband, family, Catholic faith, and love for the outdoors.  She especially loved Indian Lake where she vacationed with her family as a little girl and then later on Tecumseh Island taught generations how to fish, swim, and love the lake.  She was completely devoted to Derrell, her husband of 66 years, whom she joined on Christmas Day with our Lord and Savior.  She joined him in service to our country as a Navy wife and mom (Beat Army!).   Together they provided a model of self-sacrifice, faith, and love for each other to their children, grandchildren, and countless friends.  She volunteered many hours in support of Christ the King, St. Matthew, Bishop Hartley, and St Charles schools.  She was a great competitor, particularly when it came to Euchre (don’t trump your partner’s ace) and college football (Go Irish – Beat Clemson!)  She fondly remembered her days at St. Mary’s School in German Village as the bedrock of her faith and love of God.  Her family will miss her terribly but is truly happy to know that Derrell, her son Chris, and she are together again.  “Be nice to people and smile, they probably are having a harder day than you.”  Friends may call Thursday December 27, 2018 from 4-7 p.m. at EGAN-RYAN FUNERAL HOME, 403 E. BROAD ST. where here will be a Prayer Service at 3:45 p.m. The Mass of Christian Burial will be Friday 10:00 a.m. at Christ the King Church, 2777 E. Livingston Ave.  Burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery.  Friends who wish may contribute in Joanne’s memory to the St. Mary Capital Campaign, 672 S. 3rd St., Columbus, Ohio 43206.
