In honor of Jan, many of her friends and family are planning to wear her favorite colors and style of dress, which consists of PINK or BLUE polo shirts, +/- a PLAID long sleeve flannel shirt, and blue jeans. Those of us who knew Jan understand that she could be easily recognized by her warm smile, gentle laugh and friendly, comfortable ways. If these traits weren’t enough to pick her out from a crowd, we could also key-in on her preferred “uniform.” We invite each of you to consider following Jan’s example as well for both events.
Janet Murray O’Mahoney, born May 17, 1943 and a lifelong resident of Columbus. Jan graduated from the college of St Mary of the Springs with a degree in education. She was a teacher in the Groveport-Madison School District before starting a family that became the center of her life. Later, she operated her own State Farm insurance agency. Jan is survived by her husband, Thomas, her children, Kevin, Brian , and Maura, her six grandchildren who knew her as “Grannie”, and three sisters, Sharon, Mary Patricia (Patsy) and Sheila. After a long battle with Alzheimer’s, Jan passed away peacefully on November 17. In lieu of flowers, her family requests that donations be made to the St. Dominic BREAD Team Project to support families facing issues involving eldercare/dementia. St. Dominic church offices are located at 834 S. Ohio Ave, Columbus, Ohio 43205 or donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association at www.alz.com.
