James Joseph Huneck, age 88, died peacefully Friday, April 7, 2017. Jim was a lifelong Columbus resident who grew up on the west side and attended Aquinas College High School. He loved Columbus, often referring to it as Heaven. Jim proudly served his country in the Korean War and spent a tour of duty in Japan. After the war, Jim married the love of his life, Jean, and graduated from Ohio State University. He worked for the Morton Salt Company for many years. Jim and Jean travelled all over the United States. Jim read the newspaper cover to cover. Jim loved old movies and trivia. He had a great memory and could beat anyone in Trivial Pursuit. Jim also loved card games, especially Bridge and Hearts. Jim always had pet dogs and he loved them all. Jim had a warm personality and a great sense of humor. He will be deeply missed. Jim was predeceased by Jean. Jim is survived by his children Tim (Gina) Huneck, Tom (Sue) Huneck, and Andy Huneck; and his grandchildren Emma, Austin, and Aaron Huneck. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Central Ohio Diabetes Association.
