September 22, 1930 ~ November 19, 2017 (age 87) 87 Years Old

Frances (Delfino) Murphy, age 87, passed away November 19, 2017.  She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. Preceded in death by beloved husband of 66 years, John R. Murphy, Jr., daughter, Judy Murphy in 1982 at age 24 and son, Michael Murphy in 1994 at age 39.  Also preceded in death by sisters, Mary Delfino and Josephine Tulip; brothers John, Charles Joseph "Bobby", and James "Jimmy" (Barbara) Delfino; sisters-in-law, Mary Jane (Frank) Carson and Ann Gordon Delfino; brother-in-law, Bill Clarkin. Survived by son, John Murphy III and daughter, Sandee Murphy; granddaughters, Michaela and Siobhan Fallon; sisters-in-law, Joan Murphy Clarkin and Virginia Trovato Delfino; many nieces, nephews and great-nieces and nephews. She was a Den Mother for the Cub Scouts, Camp Fire Girls Leader and willing volunteer for many fundraisers, including St Paul's Catholic Church, Shamrock Glee Club of Columbus, American Legion Post #465 and IBEW #683 Christmas festivities; she was also past secretary of K of C Auxiliary #3747. She was instrumental in bringing Irish step dancing to Columbus, OH through the interviewing and hiring of Ann Richens Dance Studios out of Dayton, OH in the 1970s and was the first President of The Shamrock Club Irish Dancers Association. She counted that as one of her proudest achievements as Irish step dancing has become more prominent and continues to flourish in Columbus. But the real pride of her life was her lovely and treasured granddaughters, Michaela and Siobhan, Bella Bellas.  They provided so many wonderful memories and brought so much joy to her life. Being with them always produced a big smile from "Nonna". Friends may call Friday from 3-6 p.m. at EGAN-RYAN FUNERAL HOME, 403 East Broad Street where a Prayer Service will begin at 5:30 p.m.  Mass of Christian Burial will be Saturday at 10:00 a.m. at St. Patrick Church, 280 North Grant Ave.  Burial to follow at St. Joseph Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Ann Richens Memorial Scholarship Fund or to the Daughters of Erin College Scholarship Fund.
