Elizabeth "Betty" (Clancy) Albanese

Elizabeth “Betty” Clancy Albanese passed away Saturday, September 22, 2018 surrounded by her loving family at the age of 86.  She was born January 22, 1932 in Columbus, Ohio to John (Bud) and Dora Clancy.  She faced many challenges growing up in the Depression era, but these helped to mold her character.  She was a strong, independent, outspoken, loving, generous and caring mother and grandmother.  She attended Sacred Heart Business school and graduated at the age of 17.

She married John (Jack) Albanese on March 6, 1952 in California and he preceded her in death, as well as her parents, sisters Maryann Clancy and Margaret (William) Rickard and brothers James Clancy and William (Kate) Clancy.

Betty worked for Rockwell International for 25 years as a secretary with a top-secret classification while working with the U.S. Navy.  She retired in 1987 and moved in with her daughter, Jackie, and family.

Betty is survived by her daughters, Donna (Jerry) Owings; Jaclynne (Tom) Bates; and son, Jon (Kelli) Albanese; grandchildren Danette (partner, Alan Hines) Farlow, Adrian (Melissa) Bates, Lannie (Marc) Rowney, Ben Owings, Kenzie (fiancé, Shawn Warren) Huhn, and Kati Albanese; great-grandchildren Alexandra Farlow; Ellie (Jared) Thompson; Lauren (Cory) Neville; Madelyn Bates; Andrew Cramer and Isabella Owings; Trenton, Toni, Keagan, and Hailey Rowney; and Amelia Albanese; great-great-grandchildren Evelyn and Isla Mae Neville; a sister, Eileen Ringler; cousins, James Keehner and Louise Masdea, and many nieces and nephews.

A special thank you to the staff of Marion Pointe Nursing Home who took excellent care of Betty for the past 13 months.

The family will receive friends on Sunday, October 14, 2018 from 2-4 p.m. at Egan-Ryan Funeral Home located at 403 E. Immediately following calling hours a reception will be held in the basement of Christ the King Church located at 2777 E. Livingston Avenue, Columbus, OH 43209.  Directions will be available on sign-in table at the funeral home.  All are welcome!
